December Exhibitions
Check out new visual art exhibitions around the city this December! Each month, we spotlight a new or outgoing visual arts exhibitions in the city, followed by a roundup of others you can see this month.
Recently opened at EMMEDIA, the Black2TheFuture Exhibition is the result of a residency of and mentorship program curated by Diane Din Ebongue “that merges the realms of art, technology and Afrofuturism — offering them [the artists] a space to explore their creative potential and envision a world where the past and present converge to conceptualize new futures.”
The exhibition invites everyone to experience the diverse and powerful works of Samuel Adedoyin Kugbiyi, a multi-disciplinary storyteller; Jairus Sharif, a self-taught musical innovator; Ado Nkemka, a musician and writer known for his impactful performances; Tim Meduna, a visual artist and filmmaker; and Nenritji Suwa, a storyteller exploring Black identity through various mediums.
You can check out the Black2TheFuture exhibition until December 12, 2025 at EMMEDIA located at 2005 10 Ave. SW, in the inner city community of Sunalta, just west of Downtown Calgary.
