Wide Cut Weekend
Back for round two, roots festival set to expand
- Price: $10 - $59
It’s the first festival dedicated to roots music in the city and Wide Cut Weekend is back for the second year bringing along with it more venues and more artists.
“Our inaugural event was such a huge success that we started planning this year’s festival immediately,” says Artistic Director of Wide Cut Weekend Allison Brock, in a statement. “We are thrilled to be expanding our programming to include more Calgary live music venues and we’ll bring even more quality Canadian roots artists to Calgary.”
This year’s artists include Beautiful Joe, Carter Felker, Dave McCann, Justine Vandergrift, Ken Stead, Kimberley MacGregor, Lucas Chaisson, Petunia, T. Buckley, Up on Cripple Creek, and many more. There’s even a Thursday night kickoff concert at the King Eddy in the National Music Centre (438 9th Ave. SE) featuring The Joe Defendants and Craig Korth & Nomand Jones.
Wide Cut Weekend runs October 13 to 15, 2016 at venues around Calgary. Head to widecutweekend.com for a full schedule.
