Water—we need it to survive and it is fast becoming one of the most pressing environmental issues of our time. And you can discuss it in depth this week at Under Western Skies.

Every two years, academics, artists, policymakers, and community members gather to take part in this environmental conference series that takes place at Mount Royal University. For 2016 keynote speakers and artists include Bruno Latour, Niigaanwewidam James Sinclair, Maude Barlow, Chris Jordan, Kathleen Dean Moore, John Pomeroy and Robert Sandford. Also on the schedule, and performing its Canadian debut, is the Gaia Global Circus—a theatre project that uses comedy and innovative set design to dramatize the reality of climate change.

Under Western Skies takes place September 27 to 30, 2016 at Ross Glen Hall and Bella Concert Hall, Mount Royal University (4825 Mount Royal Gate SW). The conference is free for full-time MRU students and is open to the public with registration.
