Showcasing films where the landscape could be considered a character in itself, join Calgary Cinematheque as it continues its Focus Series with Nicolas Roeg’s survival film, Walkabout.

Loosely based on the 1959 novel by James Vance Marshall, the film follows two city-bred children as they make their way though the Australian outback. Lost and weak, the two are discovered by an Indigenous boy who is on a walkabout from his tribe. Living up to its tagline—just about the most different film you’ll ever see—the film premiered in competition at the 1971 Cannes Film Festival.

Walkabout screens at 7:00pm on October 19, 2017 at the Globe Cinema (617 8th Ave. SW). Advance tickets and memberships can be found at calgarycinema.org.
