Adapted from the Ray Bradbury story by Matthew Waddell, Eric Rose, and David van Belle, Vertigo Theatre and Ghost River Theatre have joined forces to bring this critically-acclaimed audio experience to an online audience.

An adaptation of sci-fi giant Ray Bradbury’s short story, Tomorrow’s Child explores our sense of hearing while crafting a landscape of sound that goes far beyond our everyday listening—it re-imagines the quirks of 50s sci-fi within a sonic environment.

The piece has been specifically remastered to create a cutting edge, online binaural (3D) audio experience and offers a one-of-a-kind blindfolded theatre performance designed for headphones or earbuds.

In the imagined retro-future of 1988 we meet two new parents, Polly and Peter as they confront the reality that their baby has been born into another dimension. Will they accept the interstellar divide between parent and child? Or is there another spacetime solution?

After successful runs in theatres across the country, Tomorrow’s Child returns with a series of not-to-be-missed live-streamed performances.

“This isn’t your typical online live-stream,” says Ghost River’s Eric Rose in a statement. “We have gone to incredible lengths to offer audiences a unique immersive audio experience that places them in the middle of the multi-layered soundscape. The storyline follows the struggles of Polly, a new mother who in isolation tries to navigate caring for a baby who is different. I believe Polly’s story is especially relevant at this time of physical disconnection, offering audiences from anywhere in the world a thrilling high-quality act of deep listening from the safety of their homes.”

Tomorrow’s Child runs June 4 to 6 and 11 to 13, 2020 at 8:00pm and is a ticketed event. Patrons require access to the internet and headphones in order to experience the show.
