Virginie Brunelle is one of Canada’s most exciting choreographers and is at the forefront of the Montreal dance scene. See her new work grace the Theatre Junction stage this March.

Commissioned by Theatre Junction, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Agora de là Danse, The National Arts Centre, and Usine C., To The Pain That Lingers is a poetic exploration of human relations and our deep connection to each other.

Sometimes romantic, sometimes crude, the piece explores a world of conflicting emotions including togetherness, separation, and absence.

“We are proud to be one of the commissioning companies on this intriguing and beautiful piece, and it is with great pleasure that we are presenting this new work in partnership with Banff Centre,” says Guy de Carteret, Theatre Junction’s Executive Director, in a statement. “With scarce resources, collaborations are vital in supporting Canadian artists to bring their work to the stage and to diverse audiences across the country. Theatre Junction has had a few co-presentations this season and we will continue to build partnerships in support of new work that audiences might not otherwise have a chance to see.”

Prior to her Western Canadian premiere in Calgary, Brunelle will be participating in a Performing Arts Residency at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. She will also be conducting a Masterclass on March 11 as part of Theatre Junction’s Masterclass series.

To The Pain That Lingers runs March 8 to 11, 2017 at Theatre Junction GRAND (608 1st St. SW).
