The Tudors
Luminous Voices explores the music from the Tudor period
- Location: Bella Concert Hall, Mount Royal University (18 Mount Royal Circle SW)
- Price: $28 - $38
Music played an important role in the Tudor period. Found in every aspect of court life and an integral part of religious worship, musicians came to be regarded as artists and were frequently patronized by wealthier members of the royalty, nobility, and the merchant class.
This is your chance to hear Luminous Voices perform works by these English Renaissance masters including O Nata Lux and Magnificat for Four Voices by Thomas Tallis, Mass for Five Voices by William Byrd, The Lord’s Prayer and Hec Dies by John Sheppard, and more.
The concert also features two world premieres by Canadian composers Carmen Braden and Zachary Wadsworth, each providing a modern reflection on the Tudor music.
