The Cows
Elaine Weryshko’s Greek chorus heads to Next Stage at Theatre Junction
- Location: Theatre Junction GRAND Studio 608 1st St. SW
- Price: $20
A Greek embodied tragedy for glory, cream, guts, and the quest for happiness, Elaine Weryshko’s The Cows is ultimately about heroes… but no one believes in heroes anymore.
Told through the curse of demi-god Dionysus and the duality of all things in the universe, The Cows was inspired from Alberta’s roots of dirt and the oceans of wheat.
“Next Stage has been a wonderful addition to Theatre Junction’s season,” says Guy de Carteret, Theatre Junction’s Executive Director, in a statement. “To see the energy, quality of productions and support from the Calgary community in experiencing new work by local artists has been great, and is exactly what this initiative is all about.”
Providing performance and rehearsal space, front of house services, marketing, box office management, and technical support at no charge to local artists and companies, Next Stage presents new fully-developed work by young and independent companies.
The Cows runs March 8 to 11, 2018 at the Theatre Junction GRAND Studio (608 1st St. SW). The show is recommended for 16+ due to strong language and sexually suggestive scenes.
