Join the Calgary Civic Symphony to take an armchair journey to our southern neighbour and experience the music of the United States of America.

Stars and Stripes brings together an outstanding program of American music and features Mayor Naheed Nenshi narrating the immortal words of President Abraham Lincoln in Aaron Copland’s A Lincoln Portrait. And joining the Civic to present John Adams’ unique work The Dharma at Big Sur is Calgary Philharmonic Concertmaster Diana Cohen. The program also includes Charles Ives’ Variations on America, Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings, and George Gershwin’s Catfish Row Suite.

The concert takes place at 2:30pm on April 15, 2018 at the Jack Singer Concert Hall, Arts Commons (205 8th Ave. SE).

And be sure not to miss the pre-concert chat with Calgary Civic Symphony Artistic Director/Conductor Rolf Bertsch and Diana Cohen for a special insight on The Dharma at Big Sur and the six-string electric violin.
