Returning for its third annual concert, Facet Music celebrates the Chinese mythological bird, Feng Huang. Also known as the Chinese Phoenix, it symbolizes high virtue, grace, and prosperity.

Throughout its long history, Feng Huang has been an inspiration for people’s lives and continues to influence creative lives today. It embodies duality and symbolizes the union of male and female spirits.

The concert features internationally renowned pianist Corey Hamm and his duo PEP (Piano and Erhu Project), suona virtuoso Zhong Wu, flautist Jiajia Li, cutting-edge singer and songwriter FOONYAP, dynamic jazz trombonist Carsten Rubeling, and choreographer and dancer Barbara England. And what celebration of this magantude would be complete without the one-and-only Calgary Chinese Orchestra?

Song of the Phoenix takes place at 7:30pm on February 1, 2020 at The Grand (608 1st St. SW).

UPDATE Due to unforeseen circumstances, the February 2 show has been cancelled. Please contact Facet Music for more information.
