In 1960s Montreal working-class housewife Germaine Lauzon has just won the jackpot—one million trading stamps. But who can she trust when her family and neighbours come over for a stamp-sticking party?
Based on Michel Tremblay’s mid-1960s tragicomedy, Les Belles-soeurs, this English-language musical adaptation is lighter than the original and is bound to be a delight live on the Theatre Calgary stage.
“Michel Tremblay’s original play is perhaps the most iconic work of French-Canadian theatre ever written,” says Interim Artistic Director Shari Wattling, in a statement. “You will revel in the jealousies and fantasies of these wonderful Montreal women.”
Sisters: The Belles Soeurs Musical runs October 10 to November 4, 2017 at the Max Bell Theatre in Arts Commons (240 9th Ave. SE). Tickets start at $35 and are available at theatrecalgary.com.
