Studio Bell opens temporary exhibit in honour of 25th anniversary of Mad Mad World

Featuring a wide selection of awards, artifacts, and guitars, the National Music Centre launches this temporary exhibition on Canadian music legend Tom Cochrane.
The exhibit commemorates the 25th anniversary of the icon’s 1991 international smash, Mad Mad World, and features artifacts in Cochrane’s acclaimed career including the 1963 Gretsch guitar used by Cochrane in the music video for 1988 single Big League and the outfit worn in the music video for chart-topper Life is a Highway.
“Mad Mad World was a record that changed my life. This exhibition is a reflection of that time in my career, but also captures many other important landmarks, from my early days on the Yorkville scene to playing with Red Rider and into my solo career,” says Tom Cochrane in a statement. “I’m so humbled and honoured to have my story celebrated at Studio Bell.”
This is the first NMC exhibition at Studio Bell to feature content from the EMI Music Canada Archive that was donated to the University of Calgary earlier this year. NMC has partnered with Universal Music Canada and the University of Calgary to support public access to the archive through on-site programming and exhibitions.
