Ship of Theseus

Hidden Gems brings award-winning Indian drama to Calgary

Stunningly beautiful and dubbed a life-changing film from critics, join Calgary’s own Hidden Gems Film Festival for a screening of Ship of Theseus.

This 2013 Indian drama film was written and directed by Anand Gandhi, and explores questions of identity, meaning and death as told through the stories of an experimental photographer, an ailing monk and an enterprising stockbroker. The film premiered at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival, where it was touted as the hidden gem of the year.

“This is not popcorn entertainment but a sublime, thought-provoking, philosophical film. You may wish to delve deeper to extract the meaning,” says Hidden Gems’ President and Founder Niru Bhatia, in a statement. “If you see only one film this year, make it this one.”
