In 1997, Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers acquired over 2,500 16mm films from the Calgary Public Library and regularly screen them for the public. But there’s a catch—each time the film is kept a secret until the credits roll.
Including cult classics, animations, shorts, and documentaries, once a month, a local Calgary curator is tasked to program an evening but due to copyright reasons, the title cannot be disclosed in advance. This time around, Secret Cinema is curated by Owen Chan and Rob Janowski of The Kinkonauts.
Calgary’s Improv Lab, The Kinkonauts take up residence in Inglewood at the Alexandra Centre and are dedicated to sharing the joy of improv with the community.
The screening takes place at 7:00pm on August 15, 2018 at CSIF’s screening room (100, 1725 10th Ave. SW). Admission is by donation.
