In 1997, Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers acquired a library of over 2,500 16mm films from the Calgary Public Library and regularly screen them for the public. But there’s a catch—each time the film is kept a secret until the credits roll.

Including cult classics, animations, shorts, and documentaries, once a month, a local Calgary curator is tasked to program an evening but due to copyright reasons, the title cannot be disclosed in advance. This time around, Secret Cinema is curated by Kerry Clarke, Artistic Director of the Calgary Folk Music Festival.

Held at Prince’s Island Park since its inception, Folk Fest is one of Canada’s flagship music festivals with a broad, cutting-edge programming vision. The 39th festival is coming up quick, July 26 to 29, 2018, and this screening is sure to get you into the groove.

The screening takes place at 7:00pm on July 18, 2018 at CSIF’s screening room (100, 1725 10th Ave. SW). Admission is by donation.
