Are you a fan of Mindy Kaling and Roxane Gay? Then you need to check out this evening with rising star Scaachi Koul whose irreverent cultural observations are as fierce as they are funny.

Hosted by Breanna Mroczek, join Wordfest as Koul presents One Day We’ll All Be Dead and None of This Will Matter—her debut collection of biting, hilarious, and touching essays about growing up the daughter of Indian immigrants in Canada. Alongside personal stories, she shares pointed observations about life as a woman of colour, where every aspect of her appearance is open for critique, derision or outright scorn.

Born and raised in Calgary, Koul is a senior writer at BuzzFeed Canada and her work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Hairpin, The Globe and Mail, and Jezebel.

Wordfest presents Scaachi Koul at 7:00pm on September 29, 2017 at the John Dutton Theatre, Calgary Public Library (616 Macleod Tr. SE).
