On December 7, 1941, an attack on Pearl Harbour triggered events in Canada that are among the darkest in our history—the internment and dispossession of tens of thousands of Japanese Canadians.

Using a blend of dance, spoken word, and humour, Mark Kunji Ikeda weaves a tale that is deeply personal. An award-winning play that has toured across Canada, Sansei: The Storyteller offers Ikeda’s observations about the internment, his own discovery of where he came from, and how racism of past generations has affected our community today.

Sansei: The Storyteller runs January 14 to 26, 2019 at Lunchbox Theatre (160, 115 9th Ave. SE) and is part of the High Performance Rodeo.
