Calgary Cinematheque screens film by subversive American independent director
- Location: The Plaza Theatre 1133 Kensington Rd. NW
- Price: $10 - $12
More than a creepy art movie, Calgary Cinematheque’s upcoming screening will certainly stay with you.
Safe was subversive American independent director and screenwriter Todd Haynes’ first film in 35-millimeter. Often described as a movie about environmental illness, the alienation of one suburban housewife in southern California (played by Julianne Moore) takes on a spiritual and ideological role. It uses a crafty, and at times almost hallucinatory, layering of sound and image to offer a scathing satire on New Age notions of healing.
Safe screens at 7:00pm on October 20, 2016 at The Plaza Theatre (1133 Kensington Rd. NW).
