Led by Music Director Rune Bergmann, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra concludes its classics series with a special tribute to Ludwig van Beethoven.

“We start the concert with a more refined classical style performing Beethoven’s First Symphony,” says Bergmann, in a statement. “This represents the starting point for the most beloved composer in history. The second half showcases a full orchestra with soloists and chorus for Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony demonstrating how his music evolved and shaped history.”

No other work encompasses humanity’s struggles to live freely and joyfully, and coupled with his First Symphony, the concert showcases Beethoven’s unsurpassed symphonic legacy.

And if you can’t make it, don’t worry. The concert concludes the first year of Calgary Phil’s Live-Streaming Initiative that provides a fully immersive digital concert experience to audiences around the globe. Viewers can tune in for free at 8:00pm MST on June 16, 2018 at calgaryphil.com/live-stream and enjoy this not-to-be-missed concert.
