November Knockout Slam

Get ready for some of the best slam poetry in the country as the Ink Spot Poetry Collective hosts Toronto Slam Poetry Champion Vanessa McGowan.
McGowan is a queer spoken word artist and singer/songwriter living with Cerebral Palsy and was the highest ranking Canadian poet to perform in the finals at the Capturing Fire Slam 2015 in Washington, DC.
The evening sees Cobra Collins emcee with Tyler Perry embracing the Community Spot, and Erin Dingle as the Sacrificial Poet. And you can take part—just bring three poems that cover three minutes (sorry no props, musical instruments, animal acts or nudity). Signup starts at 7:00pm. and judges from the audience will score the performances in three rounds of poetic excellence. And for those who do not wish to slam there will also be an open mic (four minutes max.), so come down, strut your stuff and showcase your work. All styles welcome.
The November Slam & Open Mic takes place at 8:00pm on November 28, 2016 at Wine-Ohs Cellar (811 1st St. SW). Tickets are $5 cash at the door.
