Much Ado About Nothing
Thou Art Here Theatre brings its immersive, site-specific Shakespeare to Calgary
- Location: Lougheed House 707 13th Ave. SW
- Price: $27 - $30
In Calgary’s beltline sits a grand house and grounds. Built in 1891, Lougheed House is a gem of our city’s history and if you haven’t had a chance to explore it, Thou Art Here Theatre offers you a perfect opportunity to do so, with a side of Shakespeare thrown in.
Its critically acclaimed production of Shakespeare’s iconic household comedy, Much Ado About Nothing has sold out for two years at Edmonton’s Rutherford Provincial Historic Site. Now reimagined for this grand sandstone prairie mansion, the show features a 10-person cast that roams the site with the audience throughout the house and gardens.
“We are ecstatic about making our Calgary debut with a remount of this critically-acclaimed production that sold-out in Edmonton,” said director Andrew Ritchie, in a statement. “Lougheed House lends itself perfectly to our immersive roving production that combines the intimacy of site-sympathetic work with Shakespeare’s rambunctious and poignant comedy.”
Much Ado About Nothing runs August 31 to September 11, 2016 at Lougheed House (707 13th Ave. SW) and with only 30 tickets per show, nights have already sold out. Tickets can be purchased online at eventbrite.ca.
