A series of video installations from Lyla Rye that explore the difficulty of being present and still in times of life changes, these installations overlay HD footage of the artist’s mother’s hospital room as she lay dying, with cellphone clips that her teenage daughter shoots. The footage is overlaid using two projectors, creating a physical superimposition where brightness obliterates while darkness reveals.

Using unusual combinations of media materials, Briana Palmer arranges enchanted worlds where the objects and images are transported from their original source. Her primary practice is in printmaking, sculpture, and installation where she creates works that reflect an intersection between perception, experience, and social ideologies taken from her own cultural practices, up-bringing, and daily experiences.
