One of the leading figures of New German Cinema, Wim Wenders’ first two decades of work concentrates on the themes of time, roadways, Americana, and ghosts of cinema past.

Join Calgary Cinematheque and the Association for German Education in Calgary (AGEC) as they look at the early career of this master of cinematography. A critical eye that stared into the unease of contemporary living, Wenders is also known for his successful photography career.

The series kicks off on January 19 with a screening The Goalie’s Anxiety at the Penalty Kick, followed by The American Friend on February 2, Paris, Texas on February 16, and Wings of Desire on February 23. It all wraps with the first two parts of Wenders’ Road Trilogy, Alice in the Cities on March 2 and The Wrong Move on March 16.
