March Exhibitions

Check out new visual art exhibitions around Calgary this March — from a cinematic installation to portrait puppets and more! Each month, we spotlight a new or outgoing visual arts exhibition in the city, followed by a roundup of others you can catch this month.

Opening this month at Newzones is Abstraction Vol. 1, a dynamic group exhibition showcasing leading names in Canadian contemporary art. Featuring work by Michael Batty, Vicky Christou, Geoffrey Hunter, Trevor Kiernander, Don Maynard and Janna Watson, this exhibition explores the diverse ways these artists push the boundaries of abstraction.

Through a range of media including oil, acrylic, fabric, and mixed-media collage, each artist offers a unique take on form, material and composition.

You can catch this compelling group exhibition until mid-April 2025 at Newzones Gallery of Contemporary Art, located at 730 11 Ave. SW, in downtown Calgary
