June Exhibitions

Check out new visual art exhibitions around Calgary this June — from a showcase by emerging photographers, to a celebration of the beauty and ecological importance of pollinators! Each month, we spotlight a new or outgoing visual art exhibition in the city, followed by a roundup of others you can enjoy.

This month, check out To the Wonder, a new solo exhibition by Calgary-based artist Carl White at Christine Klassen Gallery. Known for his poetic, layered paintings that bridge time and memory, White’s latest body of work is a powerful meditation on the collapse of historical boundaries — and the surprising places where reverence still resides, the gallery states in a press release.

In this exhibition, White interweaves classical iconography with contemporary urban imagery, disrupting traditional art historical hierarchies (think Gilded halos meet spray-painted tags). “These works are not about nostalgia,” says White. “They’re about reimagining what’s possible when we let the past and present speak to each other — loudly, and sometimes messily.”

Head over to Christine Klassen Gallery located at 321 50 Ave. SE to check out the exhibition, on view until June 28, 2025.
