Inspired by animation, the play of colour, and flora and fauna, Ethel Dalida’s visual images are whimsically enchanting. Using acrylic and unconventional mediums like makeup, nail polish and thread, she explores themes of what it means to be a first-generation Filipino-Canadian in western society.

The Vegetarian

In their first solo exhibition in Canada, TJ Shin transfects their DNA into mugwort, a perennial plant categorized as an invasive species in North America. The Vegetarian explores how the figure of the ‘pest’ threatens the economy of settler-colonial ownership and property.

Dreamlike

Dreamlike features large-scale paintings by Canadian artist Kale Barr. The exhibition is a review of how Barr’s work interprets the relationship between nightmares and realistic visions from childhood into adulthood, translating his vivid mental images onto canvas.

The Garden of a Former House Turned Museum

Chloë Lum & Yannick Desranleau’s work requires collaboration with not only choreographers, musicians and dancers, but also with the objects they produce. Theirs is a performance and practice informed by their experiences, including their time in the avant-rock group AIDS Wolf.

Gnoul, a benefit exhibition for the Family of Latjor Tuel, is a collaboration between photographer Michèle Bygodt, model Nyalinglat Latjor and makeup artist Iki Lee. The photographic series’ title comes from the word for ‘body’ in the Fang language of Gabon.
