We all know the famous story of two star-crossed lovers, but trust us when we say you’ve never experienced it quite like this before.

Shaken up and re-envisioned through live music and dance, Decidedly Jazz Danceworks brings together its company with a four-piece band to create a new world for the classic themes to wrestle in. Re-written and narrated by Cory Bowles, the show featues original live music by the Nick Fraser Ensemble.

“It will still be recognizable, but not in the traditional way,” says Cooper, in a statement. “I find this story to be so seductive. And because it is so well known, I think that gives us permission to dive into and invent different ideas in or about the story. I hope audience will find delight in the twists and turns we take in the re-imagining of this passionate and tragic tale.”

Juliet & Romeo runs January 18 to 28, 2017 at the DJD Dance Centre (111 12th Ave. SE) and is part of the High Performance Rodeo, running January 5 to February 2, 2017.
