When cinephile organizations think of irreverent defining moments in film history, the French New Wave is often a common energizing image. So for its 10th anniversary screening, Calgary Cinematheque embraces Jules et Jim as a fitting and playful showcase of the spirit underlying its organization and programming.

François Truffaut’s 1962 film introduces audiences to two aspiring writers—Jules, a shy, diminutive Austrian, and Jim, a Left Bank Don Quixote. A beautifully rendered restoration, don’t miss your chance to see this romantic film that was named number 46 in Empire magazine’s The 100 Best Films Of World Cinema.

Jules et Jim screens at 7:00pm on March 30, 2017 at The Plaza Theatre (1133 Kensington Rd. NW). Presented in French with English subtitles, advance tickets and memberships can be found at calgarycinema.org.
