National tour launches at Heritage Park Historical Village this Canada Day

A brand new exhibit and performance, Journey of a Lifetime debuts at Calgary’s own Heritage Park Historical Village before embarking on a national tour.
Presented by BMO Financial Group, the interactive exhibition and live theatre performance shares the stories of the people, places, and journey involved in the largest wave of immigration in Canadian history.
The CP Railway united Canada as a nation and no other rail car did more to settle the west than the Colonist Car. During the first half of the 20th century, millions of immigrants travelled west aboard these wooden cars to begin a new life on the prairies. Journey of a Lifetime evokes the Colonist Car experience and brings this incredible moment in Canadian history to life for a family-friendly performance, written by Alberta playwright, Winn Bray, and produced by Heritage Park in collaboration with Quest Theatre Society.

We’re delighted to be launching this national tour at Heritage Park on July 1, the same day we welcome 105 new Canadians in an official Citizenship Ceremony, celebrate Canada’s 150th Anniversary of Confederation, and Heritage Park’s 53rd Anniversary.”
Journey of a Lifetime runs July 1 to 16, 2017 and is included with regular Heritage Park admission. The exhibit opens to the public at 2:00pm on July 1 in Heritage Park’s Railway Car Shop, while the performance premieres at 12:00pm on July 1 and runs twice daily, with the exception of Tuesdays, in the Canmore Opera House.
