World-class jazz takes spotlight for annual fest

Start your summer on a high note with a diverse blend of world-class jazz as the third annual JazzYYC Summer Festival takes over Calgary.
Featuring an expanded lineup of shows in all-ages venues, workshops at the National Music Centre, and a mainstage show at Mount Royal University’s TransAlta Pavilion, get ready for four great days of jazz and three incredible series showcasing the best and brightest of the genre.
And thanks to a new partnership with TD Canada Trust you can hit up education programs, JazzYYC Youth Band activities, and the annual JazzWalk schedule of free concerts throughout Calgary. There’s even a student discount program for the festival, allowing students to take $10 off the cost of any ticketed show.

Sax Summit

One of Canada’s shining stars, join Montreal’s Joel Miller for an evening devoted to the saxophone. The evening also features the Brett McDonald Quartet and is a must for fans of the saxophone and contemporary jazz.

A highlight of both of JazzYYC’s festivals, the day includes popular free events throughout the beautiful Inglewood and 9th Ave. strip. Presented by TD Canada Trust and the Inglewood BIA, the lineup includes an Artwalk with Art plus performances by the Kate Stevens Trio, Aaron Young, Nate Waters, and the JazzYYC Lab Band with Joel Miller.
