Historic Calgary Week
Dive into the past with the Chinook Country Historical Society's one-of-a-kind festival
Calling history buffs and all who love a good yarn. Historic Calgary Week returns for the 29th year with talks, walks, concerts, tours, lessons, and so much more.
Chinook Country Historical Society highlights Calgary’s cultural, institutional, industrial, architectural, sporting, and military heritage with over 100 events taking place around the city. This is your chance to walk in the footsteps of the past on a historic site tour, enjoy film through the decades, square dance, participate in the Barley Belt Bicycle Breweries tour, experience a cultural dinner, or learn about secret societies, prohibition, science fiction at the turn of the century, and the Calgary Stampede.
It all kicks off with the opening ceremonies at the Southern Alberta Pioneers Building (3625 4th St. SW) at 9:45am on July 26 and you can even make a day of it by checking out four scheduled presentations.
Events are open to the public and most are free of charge but donations are appreciated. Some events do require registration due to limited space so check out the schedule as soon as you can.
Historic Calgary Week runs July 26 to August 5, 2019. Full details can be found at chinookcounrty.ca.
