This little festival always programs the best in cutting edge, independent cinema from India—and the 2018 lineup is as varied and eclectic as ever. Don’t miss this year’s milestone Hidden Gems.

Each year Hidden Gems pulls together the best of Indian language cinema with the aim to promote, support, educate, and advocate the cultural fabric of India to its cross-cultural audience. With several films never shown in Canada on the program, there’s even a special screening of the award-winning film Kaasav (Turtle).

Looking at depression with more sense and less sentiment, Hidden Gems has committed to donate $2 for every ticket sold for the screening to the Canadian Mental Health Association and the evening includes a talk with Calgary-Mountain View MLA Dr. David Swann after the film.

The 10th Annual Hidden Gems Film Festival runs May 25 to 27 and June 1 to 3, 2018 at the Alberta College of Art + Design (1407 14th Ave. NW). The full schedule can be found at hiddengemsfilmfestival.com.

Tickets are $15, $50 for a four-pack, or $90 for a festival pass.
