If you love cinema then the Hidden Gems Film Festival should be on your list. This little festival always programs the best in cutting edge, independent cinema from India—and the 2017 lineup is as varied and eclectic as ever.
Each year Hidden Gems pulls together the best of Indian language cinema with the aim to promote, support, educate, and advocate the cultural fabric of India to its cross-cultural audience. With a number of films never before shown in Alberta or Canada, there’s even a world premiere screening of Khyanika (The Lost Idea) for 2017. A beautiful and stimulating film by Amartya Bhattacharya, Khyanika is a pointed and dreamlike commentary on who ideas belong to.
