From the Window Galleries in the Werklund Centre, to the Northeast Mini Galleries at community associations, to public art in multiple locations around the city — what better way to recover from the flurry of holidays than with a little arts and culture?

If you find yourself downtown make sure to visit the Window Galleries for four provocative and thoughtful exhibitions: Matias Martinez explores identity, memory and mythhology through glass, painting, media arts and sculpture; Liss Febrero & aloT reflect on memory, identity and the quiet strength found in handmade craft; Erçan Tāmati Cairns bridges the gap between ancestry and contemporary artistic expression; and Carrie Yap explores traditional Chinese crafts as a tribute to their ancestry, particularly focusing on Cantonese opera which was a familiar sound and sight in their childhood. While you’re in the building, keep your ears open for Pyramids of Compassion: Sonic Sculptures, an immersive sound art exhibition ending later this month.
