Come check out Kawa’s Saturday afternoon jam sessions! A great way to hear the quality and variety of jazz musicians Calgary has to offer. The December 23 edition is hosted by saxophonist Sean Craig, and the December 30 session is hosted by Chris Tauchner, a pianist, composer and arranger. The jam is open to all ages and levels of experience.

New Year’s Eve Celebrations

Check out a variety of activities around town — from skating at Olympic Plaza to family parties at city libraries — and ring in the New Year with midnight fireworks launched from Prince’s Island Park! Printed Textiles from Kinngait Studios presents the little-known story of a group of artists and printmakers who produced a collection of graphic textiles in Kinngait (formerly Cape Dorset), Nunavut in the 1950s and ’60s — a period of social change that disrupted traditional language and relationships to the land.
