Focused on sonic exploration, new approaches to creation and performance, and premieres of new works, join the University of Calgary’s School of Creative and Performing Arts for its 2018 Forms of Sound Festival.

This year’s offering looks at the meaning of sound and presents music that transforms the human voice and sounds in our environment alongside works that evoke place and forgotten events.

Highlights include Trevor Wishart’s sonic opera, Encounters, a network music composition by Naithan Bosse, and premieres of compositions by Brian Garbet, Lauro Pecktor de Oliveira, and J. Alex Young. Each night offers a different program performed by the UCalgary Orchestra, music ensembles, and guest soloists.

The Forms of Sound Festival takes place at 8:00pm on February 7 and 8, 2018 at the Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall, Rozsa Centre, University of Calgary (206 University Court NW). Head to spca.ucalgary.ca for the full schedule.
