Folk Lordz: Warriors & Fools
Indigenous oral tradition combines with Eastern European literature
- Location: The Lab 112 16th Ave. NW
- Price: $5 - $10
High-speed and hilarious multicultural improv, The Kinkonauts welcome special guest Folk Lordz to headline this week’s Saturday Night Lab.
Featuring two members of Edmonton’s Rapid Fire Theatre, Folk Lordz brings together the unlikely combination of Indigenous oral tradition, Eastern European literature, and spontaneous comedy. Each performance follows an unexpected recipe—one part Cree-Blackfoot warrior story, one part Jewish fool’s tale inspired by Yiddish literature, and one additional genre—chosen by the audience at each show.
This evening also features opening act Three Seagulls: Improvised Chekhov by the Kinkonauts Mainstage Players. Enter the drab and dreary world inspired by Russian playwright Anton Chekhov in this completely improvised play based on an audience suggestion.
Folk Lordz: Warriors & Fools takes place at 8:00pm on January 28, 2017 at The Lab (112 16th Ave. NW). Tickets are $10, $5 for students, and are available cash only at the door.
