Inspired by the true story of a Calgary WWII veteran, Lunchbox Theatre presents this world premiere production ahead of Remembrance Day. Written by Meg Braem and directed by Samantha MacDonald, Flight Risk shares one man’s heroic journey to find peace.
On the verge of his 100th birthday, Hank Dunfield wants nothing to do with it. But Sarah, the new nurse at his care facility, is determined to help him celebrate and as their relationship unfolds Hank reveals his past as a tail gunner during the Second World War.
Developed through the Suncor Stage One Festival of New Work, the show follows their relationship as Hank opens up and is finally able to find the peace he has desperately been seeking.
Flight Risk runs October 23 to November 11, 2017 at Lunchbox Theatre (160, 115 9th Ave. SE) with free admittance for all veterans and military personnel. Audience members are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item and donate to the Veterans Food Bank at the theatre.
