Embracing, sharing, and celebrating queer voices, the 20th anniversary of Fairy Tales, Calgary’s Queer Film Festival, kicks off this week with 18 films, documentaries, discussions, live performances, Q&As, and special events.

Fresh off a rebrand (the Fairy Tales Presentation Society is now Calgary Queer Arts Society) and marking a milestone year, don’t miss this diverse section of queer-centric movies, documentaries, short films, and more. Everyone is welcome—programs are geared toward LGBTQ2A+ individuals, but allies are also encouraged to attend.

We’re looking forward to the Calgary Men’s Chorus Sing Along screening of RENT, the Youth Queer Media Program 2018 Gala, and a cinéma vérité documentary celebrating all-male drag ballet company, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo.

The festival kicks off with Outliers: Calgary’s Queer Historya documentary that explores the historical, social, and political forces that shaped the development of the queer community in Calgary.

Fairy Tales Queer Film Festival runs May 25 to June 2, 2018 at The Plaza Theatre (1133 Kensington Rd. NW). Head to calgaryqueerartssociety.com for the full schedule.
