Walking With Our Sisters Calgary: Commemorative Art Installation

More than an art installation, this ceremony is all about creating space for the community to come together in the act of honouring and remembering missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and two-spirited people, as well as children that never returned home from residential schools. Featuring more than 1,800 moccasin vamps donated by hundreds of caring and concerned individuals, this installation gives a visual representation of the lives that vanished without a trace and the travesty of justice.

Organized by Glenbow, make sure you explore Sandra Sawatzky’s hand-embroidered illustrative tapestry that tells the story of how oil has impacted human civilizations around the world.
