Ethnik Festival of Arts and Culture
Showcase celebrates Afro Canadian and Caribbean heritage

One of Alberta’s premier Black History Month celebrations, Ethnik Festival of Arts and Culture is a not-to-be-missed showcase of diverse cultural displays in an all-inclusive environment.
Rocking a stellar lineup of presenters and performers including Canadian R&B Queen Jully Black, actress Olunike Adeliyi, Alberta Minister of Municipal Affairs Kaycee Madu, and Calgary’s own Chima Nkemdirim, be sure to check out this showcase of Afro Canadian and Caribbean heritage.
“This festival is open to all ethnicities regardless of work or creed or communities,” says Lanre Ajayi, Artistic Director Ethnik Festivals, in a statement. “We see it as an avenue to foster growth and development with a mutual understanding. Though we are many, we are connected by a purpose and a calling to be the best by serving one another.”
The schedule is rounded out by performances from local artists from Afro Canadian and Caribbean communities including Rondel Roberts, Rey Francis, Sasha Spronk, KTheChosen, Olasongstress, Adora Nwofor, Mel Vee, Bethel Afework, AlotOfPoetry, Priscila Bukasa, Syla Drum Circle, Woezo Theatre Company, Sabrina Naz, and the Sankofa Arts and Music Foundation.
The Ethnik Festival of Arts and Culture takes place from 2:00 to 8:00pm on February 28 and 29, 2020 at the Central Library (800 3rd St. SE). Admission is free but requires registration at eventbrite.ca.
