A graveyard might be the last place you’d expect to find live music, performances, and contemporary art installations, but that’s exactly what the Equinox Vigil is.

Each year on the Autumnal Equinox, people of all ages and beliefs gather in historic Union Cemetery for an evening honouring the deceased in creative and meaningful ways. Back for its seventh year, participating artists include Louise Pagé, Kris Demeanor, Kenna Burima, Cheryl Foggo, Sharon Stevens, Caitlind r.c. Brown & Wayne Garrett, and many more.

The evening caps off with a beautiful lantern procession winding its way down the Union Cemetery hill.

Equinox Vigil takes place from 6:30 to 9:30pm on September 22, 2018 at the Union Cemetery (enter off of Spiller Rd. SW). Visit equinoxvigil.ca for the full schedule.
