Empathy Week
Humainologie asks Calgarians to step into the shoes of another
- Price: Free - $20
A seven-day festival of events promoting empathy, human connection, and the recognition of our shared humanity, don’t miss Humainologie’s Empathy Week.
Presented through many partnerships, this community initiative includes varied programming suitable for diverse audiences with different interests. Take LABELLED for instance.
An exploration of identity and judgment, the production includes a photography exhibit, a short film, dance, music, and theatre productions by Humainologie and Swallow-a-Bicycle Theatre. In it the subjects share real stories about labels they have held and that may have defined, reduced or wounded them, and questions the role of labels in our lives and the way definition and judgment impact our identity, sense of self and relationships. The production is dedicated to and in memory of Thomas Poulsen.
Other events include the second annual Humainologie Short Film Festival on June 7 as well as workshops, conversations, and free hugs.
Empathy Week runs June 1 to 7, 2017 at various locations around Calgary with LABELLED running June 1 to 10, 2017 at the Motel Theatre, Arts Commons (205 8th Ave. SE). Most events are free and you can download the full program at humainologie.com.
