Based on a simple principal—dancing is good for us—Decidedly Jazz Danceworks has pioneered a a program for those living with Parkinson’s disease.

Launched in 2013 as a pilot project, Dancing Parkinson’s YYC provides dance classes to people with Parkinson disease, and their spouses, friends or care partners.

Using live musical accompaniment, the program focuses on rhythm, body awareness, motor learning, and socializing. Created thanks to a partnership between DJD, Calgary Parkinson’s Research Initative, Rozsa Foundation and the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Kinesiology and the Hotchkiss Brain Institute, the fall program runs each Tuesday from September 13 to December 13, 2016 at the DJD Dance Centre (111 12th Ave. SE).

Unlimited classes are available for $50 per person and trial classes are available. For more information please contact Kate Cunningham at 403.228.8188 or via email dancingparkinsonsyyc@decidedlyjazz.com.
