With a collection of nine dance works showcasing the incredible diversity of Calgary’s scene, join the University of Calgary’s School of Creative and Performing Arts and the Faculty of Kinesiology for Dance Montage.

An annual audience favourite now into its 49th production, this year’s program serves as an opportunity for artists from a variety of dance worlds to meet, create, and learn about each other’s work.

“We can immerse ourselves in forms of Chinese classical dance even though our previous experience of the culture may be simply walking through Chinatown. We can use our wisdom as a mother of grown children to find the richness and fullness of dancing in a Krump style,” says artistic director Anita Miotti, in a statement. “We can be masters of our own styles, and work with dancers with a variety of experiences. We have the opportunity to move beyond ourselves into community in order to grow as individuals, as dancers, as choreographers, and as citizens of the world.”

The show includes choreography by Sean Butler, Kelly Brownlee, Justin Cancio, Jason Owen F. Galeos, Hayley McDougall, Edward Mitchell, Master Mo Fan, Su Lin Tseng, and De-Ann Weekes.

Dance Montage runs November 29 to December 1, 2018 at the University Theatre, University of Calgary (230 University Court NW).
