At the third event in the +CONTEXT design lecture series, Bryan Young of Young Projects shares his firm’s investigation and experimentation of new materials while radically re-imagining the process of fabrication.

Working in close collaboration with artisans and craftsmen, and influenced by chemical reactions and random chance, Young Projects ultimately deploys these new materials to create novel experiences.

At the Fire Place at Carraig Ridge, Young Projects turns the foothills of Southern Alberta into the defining material of a small pavilion. Strategically angled mirrors arrayed across its surface reflect the surrounding landscape, fragmenting and superimposing blue sky, aspen forest, rolling meadows, and views of the Rocky Mountains on the structure’s exterior. Hear Young discuss this and other projects, both local and international, followed by a Q&A session with the audience.

+CONTEXT Design Lectures – CRAFT takes place at 5:30pm on February 14, 2019 at Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre (850 4th St. SE).
