- Price: $15 - $25
Affectionately known as the hardest working musician in Canadian jazz, saxophonist Cory Weeds returns to Calgary with his latest quartet project.
The fourth show in JazzYYC’s Illumin8 Series, the project features hard bop/post-bop pianist Harold Mabern, a jazz legend from the hay-days of the 50s and 60s. Along with Michael Glynn on bass and Julian MacDonough on drums, the group has been performing together since 2013.
Hear them perform music from As Of Now as well as a handful of Mabern originals and select gems from the Great American Songbook.
Cory Weeds performs at 8:30pm on January 28, 2017 at the TransAlta Pavilion, Taylor Centre for the Performing Arts, Mount Royal University (4825 Mount Royal Gate SW).
Part of its all-star jazz weekend, the Mount Royal University Conservatory and JazzYYC is offering concertgoers a $10 discount for purchasing tickets for both shows. There’s also a $10 discount on ticket pricing for this show for all students! Show your student ID at the door to confirm your student status.
