Jimmy MacDonald is a low-paid clerk at the Baxter Coffee Company in New York City and is always trying his luck at lotteries, drawings, and slogan contests. His favourite daydream is to win the top cash prize so he can move out of his tenement apartment and marry his girlfriend, Betty. He thinks his fortune has changed when he wins the $25,000 grand prize in rival company’s Maxford Coffee jingle competition. But things aren’t what they seem and he has already spent the winnings…
