A once-in-a-lifetime concert experience, join JazzYYC and Mount Royal University for an evening full of music from the iconic alto-saxophonist headed up by Canadian jazz master PJ Perry.
For this special re-creation of his favourite record, Charlie Parker with Strings, Perry is joined by a classical string ensemble paired with a jazz rhythm section for an unforgettable night of classic jazz.
Perry calls the project a lifetime dream come true.
“I’m very grateful and honoured to be given an opportunity to play the music that changed my life. It might have seemed an impossibility at earlier stages of my life. Now, I’ve reached a point as a musician and artist that I don’t have to be Charlie Parker. I can be comfortable interpreting the music in my own style, though there isn’t anything a saxophonist can play that doesn’t owe a debt to him,” says Perry in a statement.
Part of the Illumin8 Series, the concert takes place at 8:00pm on February 10, 2018 at the Bella Concert Hall, Mount Royal University (4825 Mount Royal Gate SW).
