The second screening in its Contemporary World Cinema series, join Calgary Cinematheque to see the winner of the FIPRESCI prize at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.

Informed by what director Lee Chang-dong has described as his growing concern with the rage of young people, Burning is a loose adaption of the 1983 Haruki Murakami story, Barn Burning. Sharing the tale of a simmering love triangle and a pyromaniac acting out against a corroding social fabric, the film is being hailed as one of 2018’s best.

Catch Burning at 6:45pm on January 10, 2019 at the Globe Cinema (617 8th Ave. SW). Presented in Korean with English subtitles, advance tickets and memberships can be found at calgarycinema.org.
